For two weeks running, 30 May and 6 June, The Guardian Weekend magazine has featured Zed’s work. The first gave him the cover and main feature ‘Boom goes the neighbourhood’ on the subject of the property market in one of London’s poorest boroughs, Tower Hamlets. This saturday past, in ‘The years of living dangerously’ his portraits of WW2 veterans are to the fore, together with their words. As contrasts go, in terms of how documentary images and a practised approach to portraiture fill the emotional gaps within the recitation of a stark commentary, both features are exemplary.
